Wygłaszał referaty na konferencjach zagranicznych w USA (Santa Ana w 2017; Star Island w 2019; Oxford, Missisipi, 2022; Newport News w 2024), Anglii (Oksford w 2017, 2018 i 2019), Japonii (Chiba w 2024), Francji (Lyon w 2018), Holandii (Amsterdam w 2015), Norwegii (Hamar w 2017). Stypendysta Ministra Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego dla wybitnych młodych naukowców (2019-2022), stypendysta programu im. Bekkera (NAWA) na roczny staż naukowy na Uniwersytecie Yale (2021-2022), kierownik projektu „Bioetyka eksploracji kosmosu” finansowanego przez NCN w ramach programu Opus 21 (2022-2024) na kwotę 157 680 złotych

W 2019 roku pod jego redakcją ukazała się książka pod tytułem „The Human Factor in a Mission to Mars. An Interdisciplinary Approach” wydana przez wydawnictwo Springer. W 2020 roku ukazała się kolejna książka pod tytułem „Human Enhancements for Space Missions. Lunar, Martian, and Future Missions to the Outer Planets” (także Springer). W 2021 ukazała się „The Human Factor in the Settlement of the Moon. An Interdisciplinary Approach” (red. Margaret Boone Rappaport i Konrad Szocik).

W maju 2023 roku opublikowana została monografia pod tytułem „The Bioethics of Space Exploration” w Oxford University Press.  Książka ta jest głównym efektem projektu badawczego realizowanego na Uniwersytecie Yale w ramach stypendium im. Bekkera otrzymanego z NAWA.

W czerwcu 2024 roku ukaże się w Oxford University Press kolejna monografia dr Szocika pod tytułem „Feminist Bioethics in Space: Gender Inequality in Space Exploration”, która jest głównym efektem projektu realizowanego w ramach grantu NCN Opus 41 (UMO 2021/41/B/HS1/00223).

Obecnie dr Szocik pracuje nad kolejną monografią poświęconą zagadnieniu antynatalizmu ze szczególnym odniesieniem do naszej przyszłości w kosmosie.

Dr Szocik jest także redaktorem czasopisma „Studia Humana”.

Assistant professor in Department of Social Sciences.

Employed at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow since 2014.

Born in 1985 in Żary. PhD in humanities in philosophy (defense: September 2013, Jagiellonian University in Cracow). Lectures presented at conferences abroad in the US (Santa Ana in 2017; Star Island in 2019), England (Oxford in 2017, 2018 and 2019), France (Lyon in 2018), the Netherlands (Amsterdam in 2015), Norway (Hamar in 2017).

Philosophical interests: philosophy and ethics of space exploration, evolution of religion, evolution of cooperation, human enhancement.

Current scientific and philosophical interests include ethical, societal and political challenges in future of humanity in space. These interdisciplinary topics include philosophy, ethics or political sciences („space philosophy”, „space ethics”, „space policy”,„future studies”).

The author of more than 100 scientific publications, including about 50 in English, published in journals such as Bioethics, Acta Astronautica, Space Policy, Futures, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Technology in Society, Science and Engineering Ethics, The New Bioethics, Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Spaceflight, Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science, Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics, Astropolitics, Zygon, Theology and Science, Archive for the Psychology of Religion, Method and Theory in the Study of Religion, AI in Society, Sage Open, Current Anthropology, Heythrop Journal – Quarterly Review of Philosophy and Theology, Social Evolution and History, Numen.

In 2019 he published with Springer his edited book entitled “The Human Factor in a Mission to Mars. An Interdisciplinary Approach.” In 2020 he published another edited book entitled “Human Enhancements for Space Missions. Lunar, Martian, and Future Missions to the Outer Planets” (Springer).
